George's Tips

  • Recycling one can, saves enough energy to run a television for three hours. HEY YOU'RE WATCHING TOO MUCH TV!
  • My new book is out!! "The Adventures of George Global: The Lakeside Lather" is available on Check it out!!
  • Like my friend the owl says…”Give a hoot, don’t pollute!”
  • Make sure that your family separates the recyclables on trash day.
It’s okay to nag as long as they use the right bag!
  • Here’s a bright idea to save money and energy….use energy efficient light bulbs.
Just try it once and you’ll see the light (get it?)
  • When you finish recharging your cell phones and ipods, unplug your chargers. Save a
    watt. It all adds up!!!
  • Want to help the environment and help yourself at the same time? Walk someplace today
instead of driving. So you can reduce waste, by reducing waist....your waist!!! Get it????
  • You know how to make reusable bags even more effective? Use them!!! Okay? Don't
forget them when you go shopping. Leave them in your car or some other place that you
will remember. They work much better when you actually use them!!
  • If you're out in the park with an empty can and no place to recycle it, hang onto it until
you get home, then recycle it. It doesn't weigh too much. It's not like it's a refrigerator.
But then, what would you be doing in the park with a refrigerator?
  • So your mother says to brush your teeth right? So listen to your mother, and listen to me:
Turn off the water while you are brushing. Everytime you brush your teeth you can save
water. It's easy: turn it on only when you are using it!!
  • The next time you get into a car, have a list of places to go to. Don't get into your car just
to go to one place. Multi task...multi drive...awww you know what I mean!!!!
  • WiFi (Why Fi?) I heard that this WiFi thing is very cool. But when you don't need to use
it, make your laptop stop searching for it. Why? Fi? Because searching for WiFi uses lots
of battery power. The less you search for what you don't need, the less you have to
recharge your battery, the less power you use...that's Why Fi !!!
  • Number one tip for how to do a better job protecting the environment....Get outside and
enjoy Nature. The more you're out there, the more you'll appreciate it, and the easier it'll
be for you to think about how to take care of it. It's easy... Enjoy and Protect!!!
  • So two heads are better than one right? Well two wheels are better than four!! What I'm
saying is, if you can, ride a bike instead of riding in a car. You save the air, you save
money and you get some exercise. So, Hike it or Bike're gonna' like it!!!!!
  • So I heard you humans like to order food to go. You get to eat it without cooking it. Well
how about you get to eat it without plastic forks and spoons and knives? If you're taking
it home anyway, you don't need the plastic. Tell them ahead of time: Leave out the
Plastic. It all adds up. You just became an environmental hero...congratulations!!!!!
  • Things add up: The average person uses 2,400 – 3,000 paper towels at work, in a given
year. That's just at work!! That adds up!! More later......
  • Every day, over 3,000 tons of paper towel waste is produced in the US alone. Talk about
    things adding up.....
  • Decomposing paper towels produce Methane all adds up.
  • Use a write-on wipe-off board to leave messages instead of paper. It all adds up!!
  • I Scream for Ice Cream? I scream when you put it in a paper cup!! You throw out the
cup, and the plastic spoon!! Get it in a cone next time and eat it all. Then I won't scream.
  • And if you're worried about the fattening part, walk or ride a bike to the ice cream place.
You burn some calories and you don't burn any fuel. It's a win-win!!
  • Junk mail...yuck!! It's a waste of postage, a waste of time. a waste of energy and a huge
waste of paper. They don't call it junk mail because it's a good thing!. So how do we all
cut down on junk mail? You won't have to throw it out, if it never gets to you. Here are
some suggestions, and if you have some send them in….suggestions, NOT junk mail!!!
Contact the Direct Marketing Association to be removed from many companies' mass
marketing mailing lists for up to five years. Learn how at
or try to cut down on unwanted catalogs.
  • Doggy Bags??
I've been asking around people, and most dogs I spoke to say they don't get to have
what's in those bags. Then they tell me half the time, no one eats what's in those bags; it
end up getting thrown out. So you waste the food, waste the packaging and the poor dog
goes hungry. I don't get. Neither does your dog!!
